How Does The Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) Work?

Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) is a platform where investors (individuals and institutions) buy and sell securities such as stocks and bonds. Investors must open a brokerage account through a licensed brokerage house to be able to trade on the ISX. Iraq Stock Exchange allows companies to raise capital by offering shares (when you purchase even one share, you become a shareholder in that company) while allowing investors to benefit from the financial achievements of the listed companies through capital gains (increase in a share price) and dividends (receiving from the company’s profit).

What time does the Iraq Stock Exchange open?

Pre-opening period: From 9:30 to 10:00 am.

Trading session: From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The extended session for the cross transactions and special deals: From 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

What is the number of listed companies on the ISX?

More than 100 listed companies are on the ISX, and the number is increasing with new listings. Rabee Securities (RS) was the advisor in listing two big mobile operators; Asiacell and Al-Khatem Telecom. While listing Asiacell in February 2013, RS was the Sole Lead Manager and Distributor, and this listing was the largest ever listing in Iraq and the largest listing in the MENA region in the last five years (at the time of the listing). During the listing of Al-Khatem Telecoms in June 2015, RS was the Selling Agent and Sole Financial Adviser.
